Borderlands 3’s first major story DLC launches December 19, and players will get to team up with Moxxi to let her get her final revenge against Handsome Jack. Players get to live out all their wild casino-robbing fantasies, defeating new types of enemies and earning some sweet loot in the process.
Today, Gearbox Software revealed some more details and some new gameplay about the Handsome Jackpot DLC, as well as what time the content launches on its various platforms.
In a tweet from the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account, Gearbox Software confirmed that Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot launches December 19 at 9 a.m. PST/12 p.m. EST. The announcement came shortly after today’s episode of The Borderlands Show aired, showcasing some lengthy gameplay footage from the upcoming DLC. The Handsome Jackpot DLC will feature a brand new story for players to take on, new gear to loot, and plenty of Hyperion enemies to take down. Each of Borderlands 3’s DLCs will focus on specific characters, fleshing out elements that fans have wanted to learn about.
With every major Borderlands 3 update, Gearbox has been adding new legendary items for players chase after. The Handsome Jackpot DLC will be adding several legendary items, featuring both new and returning items that are sure to make for some interesting new builds. Several Moxxi weapons are also making a comeback and are sure to be a hit for returning fans as her weapons were staples in most endgame builds in Borderlands 2. Other fan favorites, like the Nukem, are also make a triumphant return, though fans will have to wait just a little while longer to see if they’re as amazing as they once were.
Fans can purchase the DLC individually or with the Season Pass for Borderlands 3. If purchased individually, the DLC will cost $14.99. If players purchase the Season Pass, or if they had the Super Deluxe or Collector’s Editions of Borderlands 3, then they will be able to play the DLC right away when the update goes live tomorrow morning PST. Many fans are wondering if the DLC will raise the Borderlands 3 level cap or not, but fans may have to wait until the update goes live to get a straight answer to that question.
Fans playing Borderlands 3 on Google Stadia may have to wait a bit longer than the rest to get their hands on the Handsome Jackpot DLC. The Stadia version of Borderlands 3 is an older version of the game that is missing many key updates that both console and PC have had for some time, and if the trend continues then the DLC may also lag behind in release date as well. Gearbox has said that they are looking to fix the content delay, but have only given an “early 2020” window on that change. Thankfully players on PC and console don’t have to wait much longer to dive back into Borderlands 3 for some new story content.
Borderlands 3 is available for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
