If you visit the Left 4 Dead Blog, you’ll see an updated version of The Passing’s title poster. The previous poster featured all eight Left 4 Dead characters, the four new Left 4 Dead 2 ones in the foreground, and then the four old character’s silhouette’s can be seen in the background. The new poster features one less member of the old crew. You might be surprised to see who is missing. And you might remember that Valve has said they’re killing off one of the old characters in the upcoming DLC. Don’t leave yet though, because Valve has a trick up their sleeve. If you clear your cache and revisit the site you may see that their are multiple posters that you can potentially view, each one missing a different member. The two I have been able to see were missing Louis, and then Zoey respectively. You can read further into this and say that there will be no official death, and that a random character will be dead when you play the DLC. That may be a bit preemptive, but either way we’ll end up having to wait for Thursday to see.

I’ll admit that initially viewing these posters set me into a fit (partly due to my assumption that it was Francis missing, and not Louis). “I knew it was Francis! I knew it!” And there was much jumping around and such. Then I learned the truth, and used it for nefarious means. I sent the poster missing Zoey to a number of friends, and they did not take the news well. After telling them the truth they were not forgiving. Worth it!
So what do you think, Ranters? Is this a trick by Valve, or significant in showing that no specific Left 4 Dead character will be dying? I suppose we’ll just have to wait for Thursday, which seems like years in the future.
